วันนี้เราจะพาทุกท่านไปพบกับผลงานจากศิลปินไทยคนสำคัญอีกหนึ่งคน ที่เป็นที่รู้จักกันทั้งในระดับประเทศและระดับนานาชาติ "พินรี สัณฑ์พิทักษ์ " กับการร่วมแสดงในนิทรรศการ Womanifesto: Flowing Connections ณ BACC จะเป็นยังไง ตามไปอ่านกันได้เลย!!
ผลงาน "Confident Bodies" ปี 2539-2540 ผลงานที่สร้างจากกระดาษสาและเหล็ก สามารถจัดวางให้แปรผันตามพื้นที่ ๆ เปลี่ยนไปในแต่ละสถานที่ ชิ้นงานแสดงรูปทรงร่างกายของผู้หญิงและเห็นรูปทรงของเต้านมอย่างชัดเจน โดยความสูงของผลงานสลับสูงต่ำแตกต่างกันไป
"ข้าพเจ้าเริ่มใช้รูปทรงของเต้านมในงานตั้งแต่เมื่อ 3-4 ปีก่อน บางครั้งก็ตั้งตระหง่าน บางครั้งหย่อนยาน ข้าพเจ้าใช้ให้มันเป็นอนุสาวรีย์ของผู้หญิง บางครั้งก็ให้มันแทน 'ตัวตนเอง' เล่าเรื่องราวเล็กๆ น้อยๆ ธรรมดาๆ ที่ผ่านเข้ามา มีทั้งที่เป็นสาระและไม่เป็นสาระ แต่หากว่าขาดส่วนใดส่วนหนึ่งไปชีวิตคงน่าเบื่อ รูปทรงนามธรรมของผู้หญิงดูคล้ายภาชนะรองรับ ไข่เป็นเรื่องของพลังและอำนาจ บางคนบอกว่างานของข้าพเจ้ามีความเป็นส่วนตัวค่อนข้างสูง และมีนัยทางเพศอยู่บ่อยๆ บางครั้งก็เรียกว่า เป็นอัตชีวประวัติกลายๆ นั่นถูกต้องทั้งหมด สำหรับข้าพเจ้าไม่ว่าข้าพเจ้าจะเขียนรูปด้วยเหตุผลใดก็ตาม ข้าพเจ้ารู้สึกว่ามันท้าทายจิตสำนึกและจิตใต้สำนึกของตนเอง และนั่นเป็นสิ่งสำคัญเบื้องต้นที่พอเพียงแล้วสำหรับข้าพเจ้า" (บทคัดบางตอนจากสูจิบัตรนิทรรศการ ไข่ นม ตัว ข้าฯ ฯลฯ หอศิลปวิทยนิทรรศน์ จุฬลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย, 2540)
พินรี สัณฑ์พิทักษ์ เกิดเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2504 ที่ประเทศไทย ตลอดระยะเวลาหลายทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา เธอได้สร้างสรรค์ผลงานที่น่าสนใจมากมายด้วยสื่อและเทคนิคหลากหลายรูปแบบ ทั้งการระบายสี คอลลาจ การวาดภาพ ศิลปะภาพพิมพ์ ประติมากรรม ศิลปะจัดวาง และศิลปะการแสดงสด แนวคิดเบื้องหลังการทำงานของพินรีมาจากความหลงใหลที่มีมาอย่างยาวนานในศักยภาพของร่างกาย ร่างกายของตนเองที่เปรียบเสมือนพื้นที่รับความรู้สึก รวมถึงประสบการณ์ชีวิตที่เกิดขึ้นกับร่างกายของเธอที่เป็นผู้หญิง และเมื่อไม่นานมานี้เธอก็หยิบเอาแรงบันดาลใจจากพื้นที่ ที่เปี่ยมด้วยพลังที่มักชวนให้สุขใจท่ามกลางร่างกายมากมายที่เข้ามามีส่วนร่วมกับงานของเธอ เธอได้เปลี่ยนนิยามความคิดที่มีต่อร่างกาย โดยมองว่าร่างกายเป็นดั่งภาชนะรองรับประสบการณ์และการรับรู้ ตลอดจนสัญญะและแนวความคิดที่เชื่อมโยงกันที่อาจถูกกระตุ้นโดยรูปทรงร่างกายเหล่านี้ ผลงานของพินรี สัณฑ์พิทักษ์ ถูกนำไปจัดแสดงในพิพิธภัณฑ์และนิทรรศกาลศิลปะหลายแห่ง นิทรรศการล่าสุดได้แก่ งาน Bangkok Art Biennale (2566) และThe Milk of Dreams ที่คัดสรรโดยเซซิเลีย อเลมานี่ ในงาน 59th Venice Biennale (2565)

นิทรรศการ “Womanifesto: Flowing Connections” ในครั้งนี้เป็นนิทรรศการครั้งสำคัญของ Womanifesto ที่ได้รวบรวมผลงานศิลปะหลากหลายรูปแบบมากกว่า 30 ชิ้น ตั้งแต่นิทรรศการครั้งแรกเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2540 จนถึงปัจจุบัน จากศิลปินหญิงในภูมิภาคเอเชียและประเทศอื่น ๆ ที่เคยร่วมแสดงและเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของ Womanifesto ในฐานะหนึ่งในกลุ่มสตรีกลุ่มแรกที่ปรากฏตัวและเคลื่อนไหวจากภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และยังดำรงอยู่จนกลายเป็นบทบันทึกที่สำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะร่วมสมัยทั้งไทยและสากล รับชมได้ตั้งแต่วันนี้ ถึงวันที่ 30 ธันวาคม 2566 ณ ห้องนิทรรศการหลัก ชั้น 8 หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร เวลา 10.00 - 20.00 น. Today, we will take you to see the works of another important Thai artist who is known both nationally and internationally, "Pinaree Sanpitak" as she participates in the exhibition "Womanifesto: Flowing Connections" at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC). Let's find out more!
The work "Confident Bodies" in the years 1996-1997, created from mulberry paper and steel, can be arranged to adapt to different spaces. The pieces of art depict the female body and show the breasts clearly, with variations in the height of the works.
"I began using breast shapes in my work about 3-4 years ago. Sometimes I exaggerate them, and sometimes I simplify. I use them as monuments to women. Sometimes they represent 'self.' They tell small, mundane stories that have come along. They are sometimes meaningful and sometimes not. But if something is missing, life is boring. The idealized female forms resemble receptacles, eggs are symbols of power and authority. Some say my work is quite personal and has sexual connotations, and sometimes it's called a quasi-autobiography. All of that is correct. For me, no matter what the reason I draw these shapes, I feel it challenges my consciousness and subconsciousness. And that's fundamentally important enough for me." Pinaree Sanpitak was born in the year 1961 in Thailand. Over the past several decades, she has created a wide range of interesting works using various media and techniques, including painting, collage, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, installation art, and live performances. The underlying concept of Pinaree's work stems from her long-standing fascination with the potential of the human body. Her own body, which she views as a space for feelings and life experiences, particularly as a woman, has been a significant source of inspiration for her work.
More recently, she has drawn inspiration from the abundant energy that often brings joy within the body, incorporating it into her art. She has redefined her perspective on the body, considering it as a vessel for experiences and perceptions, as well as emotions and thoughts that may be triggered by these bodily forms. Pinaree Sanpitak's artworks have been exhibited in several museums and art festivals, including the Bangkok Art Biennale in 2023 and "The Milk of Dreams," curated by Cecilia Alemani, at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022
The exhibition "Womanifesto: Flowing Connections" is a significant event for Womanifesto, as it has gathered a diverse collection of artworks comprising over 30 pieces from various female artists in Asia and other countries. This exhibition has been a continuous endeavor since its inception in the year 1997, featuring artists who have participated in and contributed to Womanifesto, one of the pioneering women's groups in Southeast Asia. It has played a pivotal role in documenting the important history of contemporary art, both in Thailand and internationally.
You can enjoy this exhibition from today until December 30th, 2023, at the main exhibition hall on the 8th floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Center, open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (closed on Mondays). Admission is free, so don't miss out on this remarkable event!
