งานชุดภาพถ่าย PORTRAITS OF “ÁO DÀI” - HOPE FOR PEACE AND LOVE ของช่างภาพแฟชั่นชาวเวียดนามที่ได้รับรางวัลมามากมาย ชิรอน ดวง (CHIRON DUONG) เขาตระหนักรู้ถึงความเป็นตัวตนจากคำถามหนึ่งตอนได้รับรางวัลภาพถ่ายที่ประเทศฝรั่งเศสว่า “วัฒนธรรมของเวียดนามแบบดั้งเดิมมีอธิพลต่องานของคุณหรือไม่” ไม่ว่าจะได้รับอิทธิพลหรือความรู้จากโลกตะวันตกมากแค่ไหนก็ไม่อาจหลีกหนีความเป็นคนเวียดนามได้ เหมือนดังที่อาหารเวียดนามแสนธรรมดาที่เขากินในเย็นวันหนึ่ง มันทำให้เขาตระหนักว่าเขาขาดรสชาติเหล่านี้ไม่ได้, ไม่ต่างจากคำถามสำคัญในตอนนั้น, ชิรอนเริ่มต้นโปรเจคภาพถ่าย 365 วันในการถ่ายภาพชุดอ๊าวหย่าย และจิตวิญญาณของความเป็นคนเวียดนาม

อ๊าวหย่าย (Áo Dài) ชุดประจำชาติของผู้หญิงเวียดนามที่เป็นดังสัญลักษณ์สำคัญ มีประวัติอันยาวนานผ่านหลายช่วงเวลาของชนชาติ งานชิ้นนี้ผสมผสานแฟชั่นยุคใหม่ ศิลปะภาพถ่ายร่วมสมัย ชุดอ๊าวหย่ายหลากหลายรูปแบบ และภาพความทรงจำในวัยเด็กของเขาที่เห็นทั้งยาย และแม่สวมใส่ชุดอ๊าวหย่ายยืนแปรงผมหน้ากระจกเป็นดังภาพที่สะท้อนแห่งช่วงเวลาในชีวิตของพวกเธออย่างสง่างามและทระนง เรื่องเหล่านี้หลบซ่อนอยู่ในจิตใต้สำนึกของชิรอน ผลักดันการทำงานภาพถ่ายของเขาให้มีความแตกต่าง และมีกลิ่นอายตามแบบฉบับความเป็นอุษาคเนย์อย่างเด่นชัด นอกจากนั้นชิรอนยังตั้งใจให้งานภาพถ่ายชุดนี้ส่งข้อความสำคัญไปยังผู้คนในวงกว้างถึงศิลปะภาพถ่ายของเวียดนามที่ยังคงมีภาพจำถึงความเป็นประเทศแห่งสงคราม ภาพความทุกข์ของเหตุการณ์ยุคนั้นยังคงตามหลอกหลอนผู้คนทั้งโลก รวมทั้งตัวเขาเองด้วย

Duong became aware of his Vietnamese identity when he was asked while receiving a photographic award in France whether traditional Vietnamese culture influenced his work. He realized that no matter how much he was influenced by Western culture, he could never escape his Vietnamese roots. This realization was sparked by a simple meal of Vietnamese food, which reminded him of the flavors and culture of his home country; the 365-day project of Áo Dài has begun after that.

Duong's photography series captures the essence of the Áo Dài, the iconic national dress of Vietnamese women. It also reflects his childhood memories of seeing his grandmother and mother wearing the dress, which they always looked elegant and proud. These memories and experiences were hidden in Duong's subconscious, but they ultimately inspired him to create photography that is both authentic and unique.

Duong also wanted to use his photography to convey a message of hope and peace to people around the world. The images in "Portraits of Áo Dài - Hope for Peace and Love" represent a new era for Vietnam, one that is free from war and filled with hope, peace, and love that spreads like the seeds of colorful flowers, drifting far into the air until they cover the world.

นิทรรศการ Unsinn im Sinn หรือ อสาร เป็นนิทรรศการเดี่ยวผลงานเซรามิกครั้งแรกของศิลปิน วศินบุรี สุพานิชวรภาชน์ ที่จัดขึ้นในประเทศไทยตั้งแต่ปี 2557 กว่าช่วงเวลาสิบปีที่ผ่านมา ผลงานแสดงเดี่ยวทางด้านเซรามิกของวศินบุรีถูกจัดขึ้นในประเทศแถบยุโรปเท่านั้น ชื่อ อสาร ถูกนำมาใช้เพื่อสื่อถึงการไร้ซึ่งสาระหรือการพยายามข้ามข้อจำกัดของสสาร นิทรรศการนี้ศิลปินได้ย้อนไปถึงความทรงจำและการทำงานทางด้านเซรามิก ตั้งแต่ช่วงแรกของการเรียน การทำงาน จนถึงปัจจุบัน

“Unsinn im Sinn!” (ไทย: มีความไร้สาระเป็นสาระ) เป็นประโยคที่อาจารย์พูดกับวศินบุรีในชั้นเรียนปีแรกของการเรียนเซรามิก ทุกคนเล่นกัน แต่ประโยคตำหนิกลับถูกเจาะจงมาที่เขา ความรู้สึกแย่และคำ ๆ นี้ เป็นสิ่งที่เขายังจำได้ไม่ลืม โชคดีที่ในปีต่อมาเขาได้เรียนวิชาศิลปะกับอาจารย์อีกคนที่เปิดโลกให้เขาเห็นถึงความเป็นไปได้และความน่าสนใจของงานศิลปะในรูปแบบต่าง ๆ ช่วงเวลานี้เป็นครั้งแรกที่เขาได้ค้นพบความอิสระ ความสนุก ความสุขที่เรียบง่ายจากการสัมผัสเนื้อดินและสร้างสรรค์ให้เป็นไปตามสิ่งที่เขาต้องการ ประสบการณ์และความทรงจำเหล่านี้แม้ไม่ใช่จุดเริ่มต้นให้เขาตัดสินใจทำเซรามิก แต่คือจุดเปลี่ยนให้เขาเริ่มต้นการเป็นศิลปินเซรามิก

The exhibition "Unsinn im Sinn" or "Asan" is a solo ceramic art exhibition showcasing the first works of the artist Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch. The exhibition has been held in Thailand since 2014, spanning over the past decade. Wasinburee's solo ceramic works have previously been exhibited only in the European region. The title "Asan" is used to convey a sense of lacking substance or an attempt to surpass the limitations of materials. In this exhibition, the artist reflects on memories and ceramic work, spanning from the early days of learning and creating to the present.

Unsinn im Sinn!’, (English: Nonsense in mind), is what was said to Supanichvoraparch by his ceramics teacher during his first year at school. These words are something he has never forgotten. Fortunately, another teacher, who was more encouraging, revealed to him the fascination of art and showed him that everything is possible.
.
In this exhibition, memories, good and bad, are reinterpreted. Former teaching and practice are assessed and presented through each art piece. The artist emphasizes ceramics as a medium in terms of its history and his personal account within its context. ‘Unsinn im Sinn’, which initially sounds negative, might eventually connote the opposite, becoming the truth underlying his practice, decisions, and beliefs. Supanichvoraparch has done many things that may not seem to make sense to others but are the results of his passion and curiosity.

พบกับนิทรรศการ “Cynical Bear 놀이터 (Noliteo)” โดย Koo Yoeun Mo ศิลปินชาวเกาหลีใต้ กับการครบรอบ 10 ปีในการมาถึงของเจ้าหมีนักเย้ยหยันในประเทศไทย และก็นับเป็นเวลากว่าทศวรรษหนึ่งแล้วที่เจ้าหมีนักเย้ยหยันนี้ได้เติบโตที่ประเทศไทยผ่านนิทรรศการเดี่ยวทั้ง 5 ที่จัดขึ้นที่นี่ อีกทั้งการได้รับความช่วยเหลือจากเพื่อน ๆ มากมาย จนมาถึงตอนนี้ที่เขาได้กลายมาเป็นเจ้าหมีนักเย้ยหยันอย่างสมบูรณ์ที่เรารู้จักกันในปัจจุบัน ด้วยเหตุนี้ ประเทศไทยจึงได้เป็นเสมือนกับบ้านอีกหลังหนึ่งของเขา ที่ซึ่งคล้ายกับ ‘สนามเด็กเล่น’ ให้เจ้าหมีนักเย้ยหยันได้ใช้ชีวิตและเติบโตขึ้นมา

เจ้าหมีนักเย้ยหยันมักจะถ่ายทอดข้อความบางอย่างเสมอ โดยสิ่งที่เขาได้เคยถ่ายทอดไปก่อนหน้านี้ได้มีการกล่าวถึงการเมืองและประเด็นทางสังคมเสียส่วนใหญ่ ซึ่งมักเป็นเรื่องที่ค่อนข้างจะท้าทายในการถ่ายทอดให้กับคนกลุ่มใหญ่ได้รับรู้ ในนิทรรศการนี้ เขาจึงต้องการจะเชื่อมระยะห่างระหว่างตัวเองและผู้ชมให้ใกล้ชิดกันยิ่งขึ้นผ่านเรื่องราวที่มีเนื้อหาในการปลอบประโลมและส่งกำลังใจความเข็มแข็งไปให้ ซึ่งสิ่งที่เขาสื่อไปนั้นอาจมีความหมายถึงเจ้าหมีนักเย้ยหยันโดยตรงเสียด้วย โดยเขาหวังว่าผู้ชมจะเข้าใจในสิ่งที่เขาต้องการจะสื่อถึงและสามารถแบ่งปันข้อความเหล่านี้ให้กับคนอื่น ๆ ได้เช่นกัน

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Cynical Bear’s arrival in the beautiful country of Thailand. A decade ago, Cynical Bear arrived in an unfinished state. Over the course of ten years, Cynical Bear gradually evolved through five solo exhibitions in Thailand, with the invaluable assistance of many friends. During this time, he transformed into the Cynical Bear we know today. This beautiful Thailand has become like a home for Cynical Bear, where he lives his daily life. Thailand, therefore, serves as a playground where ‘living’ and ‘life’ coexist for Cynical Bear.

Cynical Bear always conveys a message. His previous messages addressed ‘social issues’ and ‘politics’, which were often challenging to share with a broader audience. With this exhibition, he aspires to bridge the gap and connect with people more closely. In fact, this exhibition contains numerous messages, many of which are messages directed towards Cynical Bear himself. These messages provide comfort and the strength he needs to persevere. He hopes that people can relate to and share in these messages.

In a rapidly changing world, we sometimes encounter numerous trials and despair. During those times, I believe that acknowledging and loving oneself is the swifter path to recovery.

ริชาร์ด โควแมน จากสหรัฐอเมริกาเป็นอีกหนึ่งศิลปินที่มาจัดงานแสดงในไทยเป็นครั้งแรก เขานำเสนอจินตภาพรูปทรงเรขาคณิตที่เชัดเจน ผสานกับสัญลักษณ์ส่วนบุคคล โดยผลงานของโคลแมนผสมผสานองค์ประกอบที่ซับซ้อนและมีสีสันเป็นเอกลักษณ์โดดเด่น ทั้งยังมุ่งสะท้อนประเด็นใกล้ตัว เช่น ชนชั้นทางสังคม ความสัมพันธ์ ชีวิตและความตาย ผลงานของเขามีหลากหลายทั้งภาพวาด จิตรกรรมฝาผนัง และประติมากรรม

อีกหนึ่งศิลปินจากสหรัฐฯ คือ จอร์แดน นิคเคิล จากสหรัฐฯ เป็นที่รู้จักในนาม POSE คือผู้ชำนาญการผสมผสานองค์ประกอบของป๊อปอาร์ต การ์ตูน และสตรีทอาร์ตเข้ากับจิตรกรรมฝาผนังและภาพวาดบนผืนผ้าใบในรูปแบบของภาพประกอบคมชัดและเซตสีคอนทราสต์สูงจัดจ้านมีชีวิตชีวา POSE เริ่มรู้จักงานกราฟฟิตี้ตั้งแต่เด็ก และเขาหลงใหลตัวอักษรกราฟฟิตี้สีสันสดใสเรื่อยมา POSE มีความสามารถด้านการประดิษฐ์และดึงเอาความทรงจำจากช่วงเวลาต่าง ๆ ในชีวิตประจำวันมาอธิบายผ่านงานป๊อปอาร์ตเพื่อสื่อสารเรื่องราวลึกซึ้ง

แม็กซ์เวล แมคมาสเตอร์ ผู้รังสรรค์งานด้วยแรงบันดาลใจจากรัฐบ้านเกิด แม็กซ์เวลมักจะสร้างผลงานที่ใช้รูปลักษณ์ สี และวัสดุที่พื้นผิว แตกต่างกันไปเพื่อเพิ่มมิติความลึกให้แก่ฉากต่าง ๆ อันเกิด จากการท่องเที่ยวและใช้ชีวิตของเขา ผลงานของเขามักจะดู เหมือนจะมีสไตล์ที่มินิมอล แต่แฝงไปด้วย รายละเอียดที่ซับซ้อน งานศิลป์ชุดนี้เชื้อเชิญให้ทุกท่านมาร่วมสะท้อนคติแห่งชีวิต ความลี้ลับ และ ชื่นชมความงดงามที่แฝงอยู่ด้วย

ท่านสุดท้ายคือสไนป์วัน ผู้ขึ้นแท่นศิลปินรุ่นเก๋าแห่งวงการกราฟฟิตี้ญี่ปุ่น โดยเข้าวงการตั้งแต่ยุคบุกเบิก และมุ่งสู่กราฟฟิตี้ระดับโลกในนครนิวยอร์กในช่วงวัยรุ่น เขาเดินทางรอบโลกเพื่อสร้างผลงานและเครือข่าย ก่อนเดินทางกลับญี่ปุ่น และตั้งแต่กลับไป สไนป์วันทุ่มเทกับการเผยแพร่วัฒนธรรมกราฟฟิกตี้แนวญี่ปุ่น ผสมรวมแนวสตรีทเข้ากับ “ความดิบ” ซึ่งทำให้ผลงานเขาเป็นที่จดจำ ในช่วงปีที่ผ่านมา เขาสร้างสรรค์ผลงานร่วมกับผู้คนหลากวงการ ทั้งแบรนด์แฟชั่นระดับโลกและศิลปินชื่อดัง กับผลงานอันเป็นที่ประจักษ์ว่าสไนป์วันคือศิลปินแถวหน้าของวงการศิลปะร่วมสมัยในเอเชีย

From Copenhagen, Johan Deckmann’s “The Art of Embracing Chaos” is a breath of fresh air towards transparency and purpose amid life's volatility, thus, promoting inspiration, motivation, and self-realization. As a “text-based artist”, Deckmann believes that letters can express meaning as all art forms can. Merging strengths in painting, poetry, and psychology, he wittily bares the complexities of life with letters on books and canvases, with the intention for spectators to self-reflect. Transcending across gender, culture, and age, his satiric honesty is portrayed with humor yet rationality, believing in the beauty and simplicity of words.

From the USA, exhibitor Richard Colman is known for playing with symbolic imagery, fearless geometry, and personal symbols. His art has elaborate formations and distinct colors that reflect notions of social hierarchies, relationships, life, and death. His artworks range from paintings, murals, sculptures, and installations. This is also his first exhibition in Thailand with Chin’s Gallery.

Among talented exhibitors is USA-based, Maxwell McMaster’s works which are inspired by his local settings. He alters colors, shapes, and textures to accentuate scenes from his trips and daily routines. The results are abstract and minimal designs with complexity. They allow viewers to reflect on life and its ambiguities while remembering its beauty.

Also, from the USA, Jordan Nickel a.k.a. POSE, blends pop arts, comics, cartoons, and street arts in his robust, fragmented murals and paintings on canvas, encapsulating crisp illustrations and vibrant color palettes. He was introduced to graffiti early in life and was fascinated by the vivid letterings. He possesses the distinguished ability to select daily snapshots and pour them into modern pop art paintings for more profound communication.

Finally, exhibiting with Chin’s Gallery, Snipe1 is among Japan’s pioneer graffiti writers. He has been active since the dawn of Japan’s graffiti settings and later in New York during his teenage years. Upon moving back, Snipe1 was dedicated to Japanese graffiti, contributing to the rise of the culture. His works incorporate the sensibility of street art but with an edge of “dirtiness”, resulting in his unique style. Over the years, he collaborated with famous fashion brands and artistic productions, proving himself at the forefront of Asian urban contemporary art.

พบกับนิทรรศการภาพถ่าย “COLOSSUS” โดย Yoshiki Hase ศิลปินชาวญี่ปุ่น กับภาพถ่ายทิวทัศน์รูปปั้น โดยศิลปินบอกว่า แม้ว่าฉันจะใช้ภาพถ่ายเพื่อแสดงออกถึงความเป็นตัวเอง แต่งานประติมากรรมและภาพวาดกลับทำให้ฉันหลงใหลมากกว่าการถ่ายภาพมาโดยตลอด ฉันรู้สึกว่าการดูประติมากรรม โดยเฉพาะรูปปั้นมนุษย์ นำความสงบมาสู่จิตวิญญาณของฉันและเป็นแรงบันดาลใจมากมาย สำหรับงานนี้ ซึ่งฉันเริ่มวางแผนในปี 2563 ฉันนำเครื่องมือมาสู่ธรรมชาติและสร้าง "ภูมิทัศน์พร้อมรูปปั้น" ของตัวเองขึ้นมาชั่วคราว

Although I use photography to express myself, I have always been drawn to sculpture and painting more than photography. In sculpture, I feel that looking at the human figure in particular has brought me peace and an astounding inspiration. In this series, which I began to conceive in 2020, I brought my tools into nature to temporarily create my own “landscape with a statue.”

Statues are not natural objects, nor do they perfectly shape the human figure, but they seem to bring “life” to their surroundings and to the landscape, even if they are incomplete, lacking a head or a body part.
.
Humans try to control nature as if it were their own, but at the same time, it is humans who find something divine in that same nature and seek a spiritual belonging to it. Human actions are full of contradictions.
.
By photographing this fictional landscape, I feel as if I am trying to peek a little into a time when humans were able to maintain their serenity and dignity, and at the same time, were not so arrogant as life. Yoshiki Hase
