Hi Art Lovers! The highlight art of this week is the works of art in “A Lion Threw 41 Zebra’s Hearts to Feed Sharks Under the Apple Trees by Walden Lagoon,” the latest solo exhibition by Therdkiat Wangwatcharakul.
ก่อนที่จะเริ่มสร้างผลงานในนิทรรศการนี้ ศิลปินได้นึกย้อนกลับไปถึงช่วงชีวิตที่ผ่านมา ที่มีอะไรหลายอย่างที่เคยทำผิดพลาดและทำไม่ดี จึงได้สำรวจตัวเอง และตกผลึกถึงเรื่องสำคัญในชีวิต 2 เรื่อง เรื่องแรกก็เป็นที่มาของผลงานชิ้นแรกอย่าง “He (Lion)” ที่ศิลปินต้องการสื่อถึงตัวเองในเรื่องของสุขภาพและการออกกำลังกาย ซึ่งก่อนหน้านี้ไม่ได้ดูแลสุขภาพตัวเองได้ดีมากพอ หลังจากที่ได้กลับมาคิดถึงเรื่องที่ผ่านๆมา จึงเริ่มหันมาสนใจสุขภาพมากยิ่งขึ้น โดยการใช้หลักการ 3อ. อารมณ์ อาหาร และ ออกกำลังกาย กินอาหารที่ดีมากขึ้น ออกไปเดินและปั่นจักรยานเพื่อดูแลรักษาสุขภาพของตัวเอง ซึ่งเหตุผลในการเลือกใช้สิงโตแทนตัวเองนั่นก็เพราะว่าศิลปินนั้นเกิดราศีสิงห์ จึงได้ใช้สิงโตในการบอกเล่าถึงเรื่องสำคัญในชีวิต
Prior to creating art pieces for this exhibition, the artist reflected on his past and recognized several mistakes he had made. Through this introspection, he identified two crucial aspects of his life. The first was depicted in his artwork titled "He (Lion)", which symbolized the artist's focus on health and exercise. In the past, the artist had not prioritized his health appropriately, but now he concentrates on three principles: Emotion, Food, and Exercise. He altered his habits by consuming nutritious food and engaging in activities like walking and bike riding to maintain good health. The lion was chosen as a representation of the artist's birth sign, Leo, and to signify the importance of his personal health.
เรื่องสำคัญเรื่องที่สองของศิลปิน ก็คือความรัก ศิลปินได้นึกย้อนกลับไปถึงความรักในชีวิตของตัวเองที่ผ่านมา ศิลปินมีลูกชายและครอบครัว แต่เนื่องจากความไม่เข้าใจกันในบางเรื่องจึงทำให้ต้องแยกทางกัน แต่ก็เป็นการแยกทางที่ดีของทั้งศิลปินและภรรยา ซึ่งศิลปินก็ได้แทนตัวของภรรยาเก่าด้วยม้าลายในผลงาน “Her (Zebra)” จึงกลายมาเป็นภาพสองภาพอย่างสิงโต และ ม้าลาย ที่เหมือนเป็นสิ่งสำคัญในชีวิตของศิลปิน
The artist's second significant theme is love. He reflected on his past love life. He had made a family and a son. Unfortunately, due to misunderstandings on certain matters, they had to separate. However, it was a positive separation for both the artist and his former spouse. In the piece "Her (Zebra)," the artist depicted his ex-wife as a zebra, creating two images a Lion and Zebra that appear to hold significance in the artist's life.
ศิลปินเล่าว่า ที่แทนตัวของสิงโต และม้าลาย ในผลงานนั้น เกิดจากในสมัยก่อน ศิลปินเคยดูสารคดีที่ได้นำสิงโตและม้าลายแรกเกิด มาเลี้ยงดูและให้อยู่ด้วยกันตั้งแต่เด็กจนโต ดังนั้นสิงโตก็จะเห็นม้าลายเป็นเพื่อนและไม่ทำร้ายม้าลาย แต่ตามธรรมชาตินั้นสิงโตและม้าลายไม่สามารถอยู่ร่วมกันได้ สิงโตเป็นผู้ล่าตามธรรมชาติ ที่จะล่าม้าลายเพื่อเป็นอาหาร ศิลปินจึงเอาทั้งสองสิ่งมาเป็นตัวแทนผลงานทั้งสองชิ้น

นอกจากม้าลายที่ศิลปินเขียนเพื่อเป็นตัวแทนของภรรยาเก่าแล้ว ศิลปินก็ยังได้วาดรูปหัวใจที่ถ่ายทอดอารมณ์ความรู้สึกที่แสดงออกถึงความห่วงใย และความรักที่ยังมีต่อภรรยา ที่ยังคงแสดงความเป็นห่วงและห่วงใย โดยศิลปินได้ออกแบบหัวใจทั้งหมด 41 ชิ้น ซึ่งเป็นอายุของภรรยา ให้ออกมาไม่ซ้ำกัน และยังทำให้ทุกภาพมีความสวยงามและความโดดเด่นเท่ากัน ไม่มีชิ้นไหนที่โดดเด่นไปกว่าชิ้นไหน ซึ่งเชื่อมโยงกับเรื่องราวของสิงโตและม้าลาย ที่แฝงไปด้วยความรักและความห่วงใยที่มีต่อภรรยา
According to the artist, the depiction of a lion and zebra in his artwork was inspired by a documentary he watched. The documentary showed a newborn lion and zebra growing up together and forming a friendship, instead of the lion attacking the zebra as their natural prey. However, in reality, lions and zebras cannot coexist peacefully as lions are natural predators who hunt zebras for food. The artist used these contrasting ideas to create his artwork.
The artist not only used a zebra to represent his ex-wife, but also drew 41 hearts to convey emotions of concern and love towards her. These hearts symbolize his ongoing care and worry for his wife.
The artist created 41 unique heart designs, representing his wife's age. He ensured that every design was equally beautiful and distinctive, without any piece standing out more than the others. The design is linked to the story of the lion and zebra, representing the artist's love and concern for his ex-wife.
